Radiant orchid was a flop in 2014 because Pantone forgot that hot vibrant purple still was, is and will be a much lovable shade. In terms of wearability, intense purple is suited for all sorts of skin complexion as opposed to the pinkish purple of the radiant orchid. But who cares about last year’s color of the year, when marsala’s doing fairly well this year, right?

Rant aside, I find vibrant deep purple a color that’s very dependent on mood. I can go for months without wearing a single purple garment but once I’m in the mood for the color, I can’t seem to shake it off and will resort to donning my purple knit cardigan over a dark outfit when weather permits or slip into a pair of faded purple skinny jeans with a top of any color for a casual take on the color-block trend. Thanks to the sunny and windy weather that we’re currently having here in Malaysia of late, my wardrobe vibe now leans on the color-friendly side.
