Fashionista NOW: How To Slay It In Palazzo Pants And Not Look Frumpy?

Credit | Pri GS

Answering a reader’s style question on how to rock palazzo trousers. Anyone can slay it in palazzo pants but the question is: How could you do it minus the frump?

December’s been quite a palazzo month here on Fashionista NOW and I am on a palazzo state of mind.

A reader by the name of Neeta had emailed me asking for tips on howto rock a pair of palazzo trousers the current way that because she’s afraid that the voluminous pants will swallow her petite figure and I decided to create this post just to highlight the key style solutions.

Without further ado, let’s jump into the images ahead now, shall we?

But first, did you eyeball Pri GS’ outfit look in the picture above? If so, then, you’ll notice that she opts for a crop top to go with her palazzo. She then layers up with a cardigan that’s in the same color of the crop top. A slither of midriff is shown off and her palazzo’s monochrome motif draws our attention in. Keeping your waistline defined, usually the smallest bit above the navel is one of the strategic ways to keep your length. In a black an white color scheme like this, it works like a breeze, isn’t it?

Now, on to the following looks..

How To Slay It In Palazzo Trousers?

Casual Palazzo Styling

| Zoé Alalouch

Instead of a crop top, an white eyelet sleeveless top is worn with a patterned palazzo pants with a cool blue background. As long as your palazzo (and top) isn’t overly slouchy that they threaten to hide your figure, you can pull this combo off!

Furry + Stripey

| Ria Michelle

With a pair of striped palazzo trousers like this, it’s best to keep the top in a solid color and black always works as it is complementary to the pants. Ria wears her faux fur cropped sweater to stay warm on top, whilst staying comfy and breezy down below.

Dressy With Tee

| Mary

Don’t own a crop top? Work your palazzo with a tee worn like Mary. The act of tucking it all in will bring back your waist definition. Wear with heels for a dressy interpretation.

Dressed Up + Down

| Sara Constance

Minus the denim jacket, the  whole combo of bandeau top, palazzo trousers and heels work themselves together into quite a sophisticated look. Pop on the denim outerwear to dress it down just a little bit. A skinny belt helps to get the cinch in and is especially useful if your palazzo is a tad loose at the waist.

Bohemian’s Palazzo Styling

| Dominique B.

I chose Dominique’s look to show that if you’ve got a boho or hippie bone in your body, you can wear the wide-legged pants this way. The tee is kind of tucked in but mostly not and you get to see a peek of feet snug in a platform sandal.  Layered necklaces over the boat neck tee visually elongate and that bag blends nicely with the pants’ tribal flair.

High-Waisted + Earthy

| Shelly Stuckman

Shelly incorporates an embroidered crop top in a shade closer to the earthy gauzy palazzo. This neutral color scheme too is visually elongating even though there are different materials and textures at play.

I hope the style imagery above helps you in any way. Don’t let your palazzo rot in the close – take them out and start styling them. You can even wear them for the Christmas festivities or new year’s eve parties.
