Fashionista NOW: Trench Coat Fashion Inspiration

Consider the moody monsoonic weather that’s taken over the nation, a trench coat would not only be a neat fashion investment, but a practical one at that.

The trench coat is a waterproof overcoat with an above-the-knee to mid-calf length hem. It is traditionally a military styled coat made for heavy duty wear. The coat is usually double breasted, belted and has a strap near the bottom of each sleeve. It may also feature epaulets.

Today’s modern breed of trench coats reveal their army wear influences with trends like army green, blue and camo popping up everywhere and like any other garment that was once worn exclusively by men, women now get to have a slice of it all, and better, we have fancy trench coats with sassy prints stamped upon them for days we feel pretty sassy.

Though it would seem ridiculous to be wearing a heat-insulating trench coat in hot and humid Malaysia, the rainy seasons that afflict us would serve to be quite the perfect context for getting clad in one timeless trench or two, especially if one is pretty much taken by the mysterious look of a villainous mafia and other dark characters cloaked in the signature trench coats depicted in Hollywood films.

Taking the humidity of the Malaysian weather into account, it would be best to invest in cotton-based trench coats that will not melt your face off. Because of how bipolar the weather here can get even in the midst of a mad pour, you can still sport the trench coat in style, without sacrificing sense.

Fashion designers have made the timeless outerwear appeal to all seasons and weather contexts. Trench coats aren’t just for chilly-windy settings, they are also designed for summer, spring and autumn; all three of which the Malaysian weather is sort of made of.

Anyway, to the lookbooks, with the many ways you can sport the trench coat while keeping it weather-friendly.
