Early baju raya 2017 idea alert!
What to wear for the Eid 2017 festivities, you ask? Let’s start with one gorgeous Malaysian designer collection.
So, it’s back to that time of the year again where some of the earliest birds are already hunting down for baju raya. Noticing that the hunt for Raya 2017 festive clothing has started early this year, I am excited to give you some of my favorite baju raya inspo so you can assess what’s out there, if you care for the designs (and price points) and if you want to be seen wearing a through-and-through traditional piece or something that has a fusion of both the modern and ethnic elements. I’m always about the latter but I’m open to appreciating traditional baju raya collections as long as the aesthetic speaks to my heart.
Today, I’m showing you a list of 7 Raya-worthy pieces that are created through the collaboration of Jovian and Lisa Surihani. The ones that I feature here are personal favorites and even though I am not much of a glitz and glam dresser, I can see these being worn by those who have love the classics in baju kurung or kebaya but aren’t afraid to stretch the style horizon because Jovian knows how to give your modern kurung and kebaya a delightfully creative modern spin, with features like ruffles, sleeves that flare, and prints that evoke both modern and retro vibes.
Without further ado, let’s just eyeball them one by one and see if any of the designer modern kurung (and one kebaya) appeals to you. Enjoy!
Navy Floral Ribbon Statement Modern Kurung
Retro Green Embellished Ruffle Modern Kurung
Ruffle Flare Sleeve V-Neck Modern Kurung
Rustic Grey Lace Satin Modern Kurung
Turquoise Lace Crepe Modern Kurung
Modern Orange Blue Kurung Statement Sleeves
Which one would you quickly grab and give it a baju-raya-must-have stamp of approval? Share below – I’d love to know!
