Fashionista NOW: 7 Ways To Wear Denim Shorts Fashion Inspiration

Denim shorts may be part of a yearly staple but there’s no reason not to style them up differently than you’re used to. Find 7 fresh ways to wear denim shorts outside your tired style routine.

I don’t think I’ve ever realized how much a simple piece of a summer-friendly garment can be part of a completely fun or even mildly-dressy outfit until I really sat down and ogled looks worn by fashionistas all across the globe.

The immediate way to wear a pair of denim shorts if we’re letting my knee-jerk style solution to run wild is by pairing it with something casual like a tee on top. Denim shorts are the picture of casual, of course.

And that is why we cast our attention to folks who actually do spend time and effort to coordinate even the simplest of garments with some serious style-focus thought. If you find that you’re somehow stuck in the tired cycle of wearing a predictable outfit style when denim shorts are concerned, then let the looks below give you a bit of inspiration!

Brenda (in the look above) wore her strategically distressed high waisted denim shorts with a striped collared crop top and a clutch. It’s easy to want to pare down your look with the casual denim cutoffs as it’s the expected route but why not spruce it up a notch by dressing the laidback garment UP, eh?

More Ways to Take Your Denim Shorts Out Of Your Predictable Style Routine:

| Nkenge Brown

Anything that is strategically styled is always awesome. Note how the colors of her abstract patterned vest complement the gorgeous vintage bucket bag, crop peplum top, denim shorts and the cork wedges.

| Ren Rong

This may seem like it’s just another outfit but wait till you spot the details. Subtle as they are, delicate minimalist bling infuses a touch of sweet femininity into this otherwise dark number. The drape collared top is lovely as are the zippered boots. The triangle earring, though: I drool! Never forget the power of a smooth, flicked cat eye makeup.

| Jessi Malay

Jessi’s supremely toned physique aside, let us not forget that a denim-on-denim interpretation can always be relied upon this season. Jlo-style waves, hoop earrings, statement coral necklace, minimalist bracelets/rings, embellished bucket bag and a pair of leopard loafers are the details that set this outfit apart.

| Diana Schneider

A pop of color, in this case, mustard/yellow-orange knit top stands against the neutral blue. Diana carries a cool studded backpack and her feet is snug in a pair of leopard printed sneakers. A sprinkle of minimalist jewelry and a watch prettify this look. Red lips – they just make everything better, don’t there?

| Maria Cristina

Flowy bell sleeved top injects a dose of boho into this look. The aviators, pink pout and statement necklace accent this casual summery look. Maria’s highlighted loose and wavy tresses also add to the look so, don’t leave your hair out of the style equation!

| Wicked Ying NEW

Red lips, blue sunglasses, wishbone necklace, sleek leather watch and a pair of strappy statement sandals turn this uber casual basic tee-and-denim-shorts combo into something memorable.

Which look is your favorite? Share below – I’d love to know!

“In the summer I wear shorts with a bright top and ankle boots or just sandals. I’ll add a nice scarf, maybe a hat, some cool sunglasses. It’s all about the accessories.”Alessandra Ambrosio
