An easy way to welcome a brighter new year is by introducing more colors in your outfits. The color wheel or the color circle offers a range of colors that you may use to help you get a burst of color into your wardrobe this year.

Paying attention to the primary color of clothes your wardrobe is most associated with will offer a telling insight about who you are as a person and your quirks. Do you see a lot of blacks, navy blues, or browns? Or are you the pastel-loving type?

In this piece, we will take a look at the meaning behind colors in fashion and hopefully derive a motivation to insert more brighter colors into our closet.

YELLOW

Let’s start with yellow which is the color theme of Mayo Wo’s get-up in the picture above. Being the brightest of all colors, it can be an in-your-eye type of color. It is connected with creativity, optimism, energy and playfulness.

People who wear yellow are optimistic types who are not afraid to stand out. On the extreme side, it is also worn by those who have volatile tempers.

Tip: Instead of a neon bright yellow, you can choose to wear a softer pastel yellow to exude a cheery aura.

GREEN

Being the color of nature, green is also associated with healing. You’ll only have to think of the green leaves of trees and grass and the deep sense of calm that nature envelops you with.

Wearers of green are usually peaceful and have an instinctual desire to help others around them. If you have a thing for environment and a green person yourself, this color is a perfect choice for you.

Tip: You don’t need to go all green from the top of your head to your toes unless you’re dressed as Miss Broccoli for a costume party. Include accessories such as a statement green handbag as in the picture below:

BLUE

I must admit that I started off my early teen life with a fascination on the blue color that my even my room was painted in that color. Blue is a universally loved color by many and it makes you think of peaceful blue skies and seas. The serene aura of blue makes people feel at ease and content.

People who wear blue usually embrace serenity and want people to be able to trust in them.

PURPLE

PINK

Pink is the color of universal love. The quality of energy in pink is dependent upon how much of red is present. Shades of soft pink are often seen being colors that neutralize chaos, disorder and violence. Look no further than, a baby girl dressed in pink, you’ll be infected with feelings of calm and contentment.

In fashion, the color pink is also associated with romance and playfulness. If you’re aiming to impress your date, soft pink will show that you’re ready to be romantic and form deeper connection with him/her.

RED

Red is a high-energy color associated with fiery heat and warmth. Chinese cultures associate this color with joy and prosperity. If you are a passionate person, this color is made for you. It is a color best worn by those who love attention or are seeking for one. If you’re outgoing and exude limitless confidence, go red!
