On a search for a fresh jewelry trend to wear? Check out these amazing Jewelry ideas inspired by lightning bolts.
This post is inspired by Electric Love by BØRNS because I’m obsessed with the song. A line stands out:
“Baby, you’re like lightning in a bottle… I can’t let you go now that I got it… And all I need is to be struck by your electric love…”
And you’ll catch peeks of lightning bolts in their music video and that it’s so crazy humid hot here in Malaysia right now, a few lightning bolts with a generous pouring of rain – that doesn’t disrupt the fragile internet connection – would be a blessing.
The thunderbolt symbolizes lightning (well, duh…) which is followed by a thunderclap. It represents Zeus or Jupiter in ancient Hellenic and Roman religions traditions and is defined in Heraclitus’ fragment as ‘steering the course of all things. In Vedic religion and Hindu mythology, Indra is the god of lightning and thunderbolt is his weapon of destruction. Generally, lightning is often used as a weapon of a sky god/weather god in many myths.
When I see a lightning taking form in the sky, part of me feels like cowering but another part is exhilarated to see it in the split second. In jewelry form, I’ve only started to appreciate the zigzag-y appeal as I’m one to love the simplicity of geometric elements and the thunderbolt symbol has that nailed down.

I think of rivers, of tides. Forests and water gushing out. Rain and lightning. Rocks and shadows. All of these are in me. — Haruki Murakami
