This season’s hottest sunglasses trend comes in mirrored. Protecting your eyes from the sun has never been this fashionable.
Mirrored sunnies are a celebrity’s go-to whenever they opt to go incognito. The spring/summer 2014 runways are bamboozled by this latest fad that it is quite apparent that fashion designers are more than just smitten with the shade trend.
Combined with the revival of 90s’ favorite round frame style, the mirrored eye protection is this year’s definition of a statement-making eyewear making it the perfect choice for any occasion when the sun or human contact is to be avoided. It also serves as an accessory to lift the mood of the most understated of outfits.
Alyson Hannigan, from How I Met Your Mother was seen sporting a pair of mirrored shades as she went to pick up lunch one hot afternoon last April. Other celebs that have been spotted wearing the hot sunglasses trend are Blake Lively and Rita Ora.
According to Sunglass Hut, mirrored shades add an ounce of mystery and that you cannot help but to feel like a celebrity and be mistaken as one while wearing them. For those not in adoration of the round frame style, breathe a sigh of relief as the lens do come in other shapes and sizes to appeal to the diverse face types of the human kind.
While the statement eyewear may offer some protection to your eyes, board-certified optometrist Dr. Troy L. Bedinghaus stresses:
“Although they do reduce the amount of visible light entering your eyes, mirrored sunglasses will not fully protect against UV radiation. To provide protection for your eyes, sunglasses should block out 99% to 100% of both UV-A and UV-B radiation.”
