Anyone can wear a hoodie. From the CEO of Facebook to your local repairman, hooded tops extend to all. For fashionistas, any piece of clothing presents the opportunity for styling it up.

Hoodies refer to hooded sweatshirts and they have been part of lounge/casual wear for the longest time in the contemporary world. Hoodies embody the casual spirit of clothing. But like any inanimate object whose value is neutral by itself, it easily becomes associated with the wearer’s intent where the negative usually stands out.

Luckily, the fashion world takes itself ever so lightly that hoods on clothing are just that; they are functional and can be turned into a statement-maker if donned correctly.

Of course, there is not a single ‘correct’ rule of law in fashion as the scene is bursting with subjective creativity. With any hooded outerwear, the key lies in smart layering and being aware of the shape, print and color that you want to center or highlight upon. And this invariably depends upon your size, taste and fancy.

The hood protects the wearer from the elements while the color makes a statement. I find the loose cloak-y vibe mysterious for no reason. With a bulky outerwear, it’s wise to keep the layers underneath fitted to avoid putting on illusory pounds.
