Fashionista NOW: Leaf Prints Fashion Inspiration

Floral motif is summer’s botanical print favorite. If the sight of flowery ensembles in summer gets cliché and overrated for you, why not intro leaf prints for a rebellious statement instead.

Flowers capture our attention in nature and on clothing while the green foliage that accompanies them retreat in the background serving as a humble contrast that pushes the blooms in our collective faces.

The fashion fraternity is quite up to the nose with the assortment of floral patterns and the predictable return of the flower power spirit just as soon as our pores get bathed in salty liquid to the delight of escalating temperature and humidity.

Designers acknowledge the overabundance of flora in fashion and have been drawing inspiration from its leafy counterparts just to keep the masses enthralled. Leaves from various plants and trees like the palm, hemp, monstera and plantain amongst others, are fast becoming summer’s latest obsession as they make appearances on clothing and accessories.

Patterns of leafy foliage that adorn both men and women’s wear reveals the wider net that this tropical print trend has cast whereas floral prints are still regarded with mixed reviews and occasional rolls of eyeballs by the former.

Leaf prints for summer fashion is best worn with neutral and solid colored separates as it’s the case for every statement print. Whether in monotone black and white, splashes of bright/muted green or multicolored, leaf prints are gradually transforming the landscape of the sunny season’s wear.

Although teaming floral and leaf prints together is not unpredictable, we advise having one of the prints rendered in a subdued style; smaller in size or minimalist in color/design as compared the other to prevent a visual ‘busyness’ that can prove to be distracting unless that is the end goal.
