Witch-inspired outfit ideas for those in love with dark and haunting looks.
I’ve always been fascinated with witches, their tragic stories that were so often intertwined with magic, black or white. Witches, to me, represent a blurring of the line (that we think) separates the bad and the good. We’d like to make ourselves believe that the line is clear at all times, but good people turn ‘bad’ when pushed to the extremes. A witch reconciles this dualism because she bears witness to the two seemingly opposing sides residing within her.
In the American Horror Story’s Coven, [spoiler ALERT] Cordelia was portrayed — in the earlier episodes — as fragile and ever too kind for her own well being until her eyesight was taken away from her. Her blindness gifted her with a clarity that never existed before and this led to a major life change which was also symbolized by her dark wardrobe. Her compromised vision ironically made her view things as they were instead of how she wanted them to be.
I also enjoyed the The Blair Witch Project, a horror film released in 1999 about three film students who travel to Maryland to create a film about a local urban legend, The Blair Witch. Although the witch never appear physically, her presence cuts through the whole film, subtly teasing the viewer’s imagination via strange happenings compounded by a visceral ominous mood. If you have yet to see the film, I highly recommend it.
Anyway, witch fetish aside, here are a roundup of witch-inspired looks dedicated to those with a penchant for witchy, gothic and mysterious style of dressing:

Hehe, this is such a cool look! I think this look is probably one of the coolest looks that someone could wear on the streets during the autumn and winter time! I especially love Lee’s look with the wide brimmed hat and the flowy forest green top! It gives almost an earthy natural witchy vibe! When I think of a witch, I’d have to go with Bierce’s second definition of the word witch! Can’t wait to read your next article, love!
