Fashionista NOW: Black And White Striped Dress Fashion Inspiration

A neutral print trend to remain versatile for all seasons: basic black and white stripes. A dress fashioned in lines? You bet that it will take you from casual to prim in a jiffy. Find out how to bring the classic B&W striped dress back into your wardrobe this season.

A dress rendered in lines of neutral black and white can be all you need for a year-long relevant wardrobe staple. It can be dressed up or down with a few minor tweaks in the accessory, footwear and makeup departments.

Amal Alamuddin, the soon-to-be Mrs. Clooney was recently spotted wearing an ankle-length black and white striped dress by Dolce & Gabbana which she paired with a pair of sexy cutout bow heels. Rising overnight as a major style icon, Amal — who is a lawyer, author and activist — is the epitome of a brainiac beauty loved and envied by many.

Celebrity-swooning aside, let’s get to the gist of the present fashion dilemma? How does one wear a striped dress without looking like a prisoner on the loose? Well, the answers, as you’d know by now, follow below:

striped dress – Sheinside | Visa Lom

If chunky stripes are a tad in-your-face, find a dress that is rendered in narrow stripes. Pair a baggy-style shirt dress with a black ankle sling bag and ankle strap booties for a laidback look that is mildly dressed up. Pop a red lipstick on your pout for some color.

dress – 6KS | Iria Lata Rey

A dress in stripes cut in a midi-to-maxi length with a waist-defining feature flatters most. Inject a dose of sportiness by wearing a pair of white trainers and keep it monotone with a white handbag. Make a statement with your lip color, neck adornment and a pair of sunnies.

dress – Kpopsicle | Iris

When finding for the perfect striped dress, ensure that the style and cut of the dress do justice to your body type. A body-adhering dress rendered in a mix of horizontal and vertical stripes can help break up visual monotony. Color-wise, Iris chooses to inject candy hues into her look via a pop of pink pout, pale orange bag and a pair of strawberry-toned socks.

dress – Femmex | Rosa Pel

With the bazillion striped dresses stacked online and offline, you’re bound to find the use of different fabrics within a dress. Cue in the striped skater dress worn by Rosa (above). Her striped dress features a sweetheart neckline but upon closer inspection, there is a sheer contrasting fabric for major drama chest up. Edge it up with a pair of booties, red pucker and mirrored sunglasses.

dress – Choies | Gaby Gómez

For an office-worthy or stylish-brunch-ready look, wear a striped dress that features a pencil skirt and a high neckline. Layer a structured white blazer over and finish off with a serious black bag and a pair of flesh-toned heels. Pop on a gold chain necklace for a dose of shine and a winning grin to complete a charming ensemble.
