Acid wash denim fact:
The term ‘acid wash’ is a misnomer as no acid is ever used in the process. Instead, the denim is washed with pumice stones and chlorine until it is bleached almost white.
Today, in place of chlorine, weak bleach (or potassium permanganate) is used to get the acid wash appearance.
