Love the barely-there, sweet cotton candy color trend? Then why not incorporate shades of pastel in your going-out or lounging-about outfits this holiday season? Let’s find inspiration from our dreamy pastel outfit favorites courtesy of Polyvore.
There is something about the chill and the act of wearing light colored wardrobe that goes together in my mind, but does not translate into the way I dress up in the monsoon. The cold weather here in Malaysia isn’t the kind of dry cold associated with the winter-afflicted lands. The humid type of cold makes the body temperature go up and down maniacally so that we are freezing cold one moment and about to break into a sweat from the humidity in the next.
Thus, we Malaysians can’t help but to essentially dress in light layers only when needed and off the one layer goes, when the rain stops or as we leave the air-conditioned location. Here, it’s a perpetual summer land that only gets dark and stormy during the monsoon.
Now what does this have to do with colors? Nothing, as I just had to clarify if some of you, my dear readers are wondering about the weather ‘style’ here in this tropical nation. Back to pastels: There is nothing wrong with wearing pastels if you are so inclined to fancy the delicate hues. Although dark colors seem to be an easy choice for me, I am not allergic to having a pop of print or color, every now and then.
Interestingly, this rainy season has made me want to wear less intense colors (only if combined with a dark piece, of course) for no other reason except that I’m feeling a little adventurous. Plus, I think soft refreshing mint and lavender hues are visually so calming when paired together. Perhaps, I will give the top-to-bottom pastel-themed outfit a go after I raid some online boutiques.
As always, I go straight to my favorite place for outfit inspirations. Here are 8 beautifully-made Polyvore fashion sets to get you in the mood for some barely-there hued wardrobe iterations:
