Fashionista NOW: 10 Ways To Make An Eye-Popping RED Coat Statement

Red coats are popping up everywhere and you wonder how you can make a brilliant red coat sing in an outfit? Answers to follow!

You know you’ve watched a little too much of Pretty Little Liars (PLL) when you suddenly feel the urge of donning a rad red coat because you want to feel like you could be that elusive A everyone was at first curious about and then completely dismissed (I find the reveal a complete meh).

Don’t know what I’m on about? Fret not, after the season’s finale which I found excruciatingly boring, there’s nothing exciting about PLL unless you’re watching it for the pretty faces who lie like it’s an absolute must to survive in a town where people are dying left and right and have totally mind-blowing fashion sense while in high school even when they’re stalked by creepy, omnipotent A on the daily.

Back to the subject of red coats: I am starting to see them on many fashion bloggers and there’s no mistaking its prevalence within the fashion sphere of late. Blame it on the nippy, gloomy weather and a whole lot of disturbingly tragic events the world as a whole is experiencing now, RED could be the color one finds comfort in as it acts as a mood-uplifter, passion-igniter.

With a striking coat in red, it’s much easier to make it the central focus of your outfit by layering it over black pieces or other neutral colored separates like camel, blue and shades of beige. Prints may also be utilized strategically.

For a visual guide on ways to make a brilliantly rad fashion statement in red coats, scroll away like you have done many times if you’ve been following this fashion column since a billion years ago. Enjoy!

| Kerina Mango

I’m not sure what Kerina wears under her coat, but black, grey and gold work in making the attention fall seamlessly on the brilliant red.

| Svetlana Litovchenko

Don’t know about you, but I really do dig Svetlana’s hairstyle, aside from how she styles her red coat, with a peek of stripes in neutral black and white a peek of ankle by cuffing up the skinnies just a little bit.

| Kenya Sherron

Obviously you can work a little textural magic with a fuzzy top and a floral skirt and let the red coat act as a bold and effective contrast if you in a mood to stand out. Pop on a statement necklace while you’re at it. I also really like the look when the coat is slightly longer that the outfit because you know you can’t trust the cold but muggy weather, sometimes!

| Pivonia Ivona

If you’re in a hurry and can’t be bothered scroll slowly and immerse your eyeballs with all these fab looks, then please just give pause as you take in the outfit worn by Pivonia. The coat, those toned denim-clad legs and dainty supremely high heels that I could never wear – Every aspect of this look is so perfect it’s making me feel like a total granny (no offense to stylish grannies, though).

| Eleasha Ajadi

For those who think that a combo of red on red is a tad of an overkill, then you must have not seen how Eleasha executes her rad rendition – She layers her red coat over a red dress, keeping the rest of the outfit equation in black and peek of light-catching metal.

| Marijana M.

Marijana lets her red coat shine by keeping it all monochromatic everywhere else but with a little burst of character – striped slogan tee, a giant bow in her hair and a see-through clutch completed her ensemble.

| Janne B.

For a style that I’m certain I’d wear in a heart beat, I look to Janne’s as she keeps it really wearable by teaming her striking red coat over a black and red knitted top and black skinny jeans. If you give the look a good eyeballing, you’d see the delicate infinity necklace which is delightfully dainty and zippered croc flats I want to steal off of this screen.

| Choice By Anna

Who says you need ever go skinny with the pants, when you can opt for a flared one instead. Black and white trainers give the getup a sporty vibe and the cowl neck of the sweater, keeps you cozy and right smack on trend.

| Ruth Pie

Last but never the least, let us pause by appreciating the coordinated black and red color scheme of Ruth’s autumnal outfit.

Well, what do you think of the looks? Got any favorite(s) so far? How would you style your red coat? Be sure to drop all your delicious thoughts down below – I love devouring them all and will reply!

“When you incline to have new clothes, look first well over the old ones, and see if you cannot shift with them another year, either by scouring, mending, or even patching if necessary. Remember, a patch on your coat, and money in your pocket, is better and more creditable, than a writ on your back, and no money to take it off.”Benjamin Franklin
