Mad about baju kurung with peplum waists? Quickly eyeball this post to get you Raya-ready.
PETRA collection for Raya 2017 is out and I must say that I’m totally taken in by their peplum kurung sets, bell sleeve modern kurung and a Kedah kurung that features an asymmetrical peplum. Knowing that my Malaysian readers are into peplums, this is a collection I’m excited to broadcast, highlighting 5 of my faves from PETRA.
I find their use of ruffles and gathers and color schemes appealing. Their baju kurung peplum sets are my top favorites and you will definitely see why. The folded peplum waist gives so much feminine flair that it oozes graceful elegance of a long-gone era that celebrates exaggerated volume that focuses on the woman’s waist, narrow where it needs to be and flared out as it moves down the waistline.
The Kedah kurung iteration comes in a floral motif that has touch of Oriental with a skinny scarf to wrap around the neck. The other kurung interpretation has statement bell sleeves on a crop kurung top.
For me strategic flares such as the peplum on the waist or the poofy sleeves make the PETRA baju kurung such a ravishing delight. The use of floral prints that lean on the abstract side and a color palette that’s easy on the eyes ensure that you will look your contemporary best in the traditional wear.
Here’s my list of faves from PETRA and I hope you like what I’d chosen. Enjoy!
