In Chinese New Year 70’s flashback, we attempt to recreate the look and feel of what Chinese New Year must have been like during the 1970’s.
The 1970’s is a decade of social strikes, crisis, technological progress and the acceptance of what’s considered as “radical ideas” during the 60’s such as feminism and environmentalism.
However, for an average person living in those exciting but potentially troubling times, Pop music provides a constant source of comfort with their easy beats.
From one point of view, celebrating Chinese New Year must have been much more traditional than how it is like today. From another perspective however, with the rise of western culture during these times, elements of westernization of life in Asia may be evident during this period.
