While denim-and-tees make for today’s most contemporary fashion, a flash of sweet wispy pleats that passes us by will have us transfixed for being so out of the box.
I don’t know if people actually relate to this sentimentality of mine but there is this feeling about pleated dresses, skirts or palazzos that takes me back in history (way before I even existed) when there was this rigid line that stood separating fashion between the genders; ladies always all donned up in ethereally feminine silhouettes while men in predictable boxy shaped duds.
The most coveted pleated style of 2012 comes in small and sharp accordion types which you’ll find on endless dresses, short skirts, midis and maxi skirts.
While Ecosalon calls pleated garments easily the most least flattering item of clothing, I find that the conclusion is a tad premature and that the choice of fabric and the size/style of pleats will ultimately decide if that is indeed the case.
There are silk, chiffon, cotton, polyester and even leather pleated dresses and skirts to be chosen from and the right fabric and cut will conclude whether the end look on a specific figure either oozes sore-eye frump or easy form-flattering flow.
It doesn’t take a scientist to realize that different fabric will lay or drape differently on the body.
The most modern way of wearing a pleated skirt whether it is long or short is to make sure that it is cinched a little higher than the waist so that it appears high-waisted instead of just starting abruptly from the waistline.
