Fashionista NOW: All Black Everything Fashion Inspiration

Black is versatile. A non-color that is the talk of the fashion town year in and year out. How to wear all black from head to toe? Let’s find out.

This year’s no different with #allblackeverything popping up on various social media along with the compulsory #selfie from mega stars to popular street style bloggers showing off their take on the black out trend. Synonymous to the white out fashion trend where fashionistas get decked out in shades of white from head-to-toe, the way to making the black-on-black look a statement of your fashion taste is simply endless.

Two words: Textures and silhouettes.

Clothes are made of various fabrics and sometimes an intermix of distinguishing materials. An all black look can be made to jump out visually through the mixing and matching of lace, leather, cotton, chiffon, silk, faux fur and well, you get the idea. The next method is to go for a mix of silhouettes to maximize the impact: boxy top and a bootylicious pencil skirt, body-fit blouse with a full flared skirt or slouchy tee tucked into tapered denim. The combination of choice is all yours.

As always, we’ve got your hunger for fashion inspiration covered by highlighting our latest favorite all-black-everything looks flaunted by lookbookers down below so scroll away:

little black dress and boots

Gretchen’s all black outfit plays on the combination of opposing elements: flirty twirly LBD and masculine footwear in the form of black combat boots. Look closely and you’ll see the interplay of matte black and glossy black. Love how very Coven-like her black ensemble is (hint: I love American Horror Story).

black top and culottes

If you’re going to take it matte black from top-to-bottom, get adventurous in the form-and-structure department. Jae Ah Lee opts for slouchy-don’t-care silhouette by wearing a loose black shirt tucked into a pair of roomy culottes.

second hand dress | bag and shoes – Parfois

Black accentuates your complexion. If you’re as pale as the owner of Mix Fashion World’s Martyna, the contrast is striking. Her chic outfit comprises of a boxy black shirt dress, roomy bag and sleek ankle strap booties.

black romper – Forever 21 | long black cardigan – Tiger Of Sweden

Diana’s mysterious take on her all-black ensemble is through a mixture of fabrics and silhouettes. The owner of Modepuppen pairs a black romper that features a delicate lace neckline with a long oversized cardigan that boasts a cascading waterfall front. She completes her look with a long cross necklace, skull bracelet and a pair of black sneakers.

black shirt denim and boots

Lee Shiinn goes all black with a mix of loose shirt worn untucked and distressed skin-tight denim. Her choice of footwear: black platform boots. Black hat, shades and canvas bag seal off her killer out-and-about number.

black romper and birkenstock sandals – H&M

Natasha from Fashionfruitfly showcases her all-black look in a carefree outfit that involves only 3 items: black romper, birkenstocks and a sling bag. Infectious smile and fluffy red locks complete her look.

“I think clothing is transformative. When you put something really beautiful on, you feel something. In so many ways, we’re always playing a form of dress-up – it’s just a grown-up, much chicer version of it. It’s nice to be able to be whoever you want to be.”Jason Wu, fashion designer
