“Anyone can catch your eye, but it takes someone special to catch your heart.”  ~Author Unknown

Valentine’s day is peeking around the corner and while some of us may have already got a clue on what to wear, there are others who may be still be in search for the right fashion statement to celebrate the romantic outing with their beloved half.

In this piece, you’ll be served a platter filled with some really cool ideas that you can use to spice up your Valentine’s Day fashion look in case you’re running out of creative fashion juices.

Without further ado, let’s stroll down for the quick tips.

Be Naturally Yourself

Now that sounds simple right? But it is easy to forget when you’re too psyched about impressing your significant other. Remember that when you’re relaxed with the way you look on the outside and feel confident about who you are – your beauty will flow out of you naturally.

Wow, did I just say that. On a less corny note, just remind yourself that less is more. Use your own signature look – one that you’re most comfortable with – and make it extra sweet and flirty.

Now let’s move on to the specific styles, shall we?

Rocker Chic Valentine

It’s high on this list because I have an inner rocker girl that wants to be seen even on Valentine’s. The key is to tone down the edge out of the rockstar and boost up the girly elements of it.

In the picture above, you can see that a touch of bright red lipstick on a very fresh dewy natural-looking face can make a sweet difference. Save your dark vampiristic lipstick for another day eh.

The model’s rockstar look is extremely simple yet elegant – white sleeveless top and black leggings with brown boots, a black chained bag accented and a sprinkle of jewellery.

Casual Sneakers Girl

Yep, you got it. A girl does not need to wear heels or stilettos on Valentine’s to still come out looking like she’s just dropped down from heaven. But then again, I don’t know what’s hot in Heaven right now, so I’m just assuming.

In the picture above, you can see that the color of choice is turquoise/pretty blue with a splash of peachy brown. Very unconventional for Valentine’s but what makes it most ladylike is the soft curls of her mane. A simple makeup is compulsory – you don’t see angels wearing in-your-face bold makeup – only devils, demons and vampires do (too much time spent watching Supernatural!).

Oh and the sneakers are by Converse.

Awesomely Laid Back Angel

This is for the awesomely low-maintenance type of Valentine’s angel. Check out the image below and you’ll see what I mean. The model is sporting an 80s checkered shirt over a striped top with white denim shorts and slippers!

Observe how this very simple look makes us focus our attention on her legs, oops I mean her gorgeous face. Again, I cannot stress more on the importance of soft makeup.

The Bohemian Queen

All it takes is your love for the bohemian styles and you’re good to go. Incorporate bright/muted floral tones such as reds, purples and yellows and tons of attitude. A true bohemian goes boho even on Valentine’s and that’s admirable. You still do have to take a shower and splash some perfume though.

Jokes aside, the lovely model below is wearing a bohemian-inspired blouse over a bright yellow bikini top with plain black shorts, a bit of smokey eye makeup, a pair of peep-toe heels and some color-happy beaded bracelets.

The Punk Princess

Not every girl goes pink for Valentine’s and if you’re the type of girl who has a thing for Punk-inspired styles – go for it!

An idea for your punkish Valentine’s look can be seen above. The model has on a Bowie t-shirt, black waistcoat, black skinny jeans, a cute boombox bag, Reebok shoes and a red bracelet.

The Vintage Affair

For ladies who desire to flaunt their feminine side this Valentine’s and enthral your perfect other with your soft beauty, all you need is a soft-colored dress. As you can see the model above is wearing a peachy dress that’s made of very light material.

If you’re going to the beach on a sunny Malaysian day, wearing something that is of light material is a must and so is having an ample supply of sunscreen lotion so you don’t get burned. Tie up your hair in a messy bun to give your neck a little breather. Just make sure your man is not a closeted vampire, but make exception if he is Damon Salvatore.

I love how well the knitted bag in beige goes with her selection of jewelery. Classy.

The Everyday-I-Wear-Leggings Type

For ladies who never leave the house without a pair of leggings, no one’s stopping you from sporting them this Valentine’s. Instead of the usual one-color opaque ones, wear printed leggings instead.

The model is wearing a pink sweater over a black tank top but I prefer that either one of it covers her back. But then again, perhaps her back is perfect. Aha, that’s just to test you guys – remember leggings aren’t pants!

So what are you ladies wearing this Valentine’s? Of all the choices of styles shown above, what would be your best pick for this lovey-dovey occasion? Is there a distinct style that you go for? We would love to know all about it, so spill!
