Fashionista NOW: Sunflower Print Fashion Inspiration

Sunflowers have been blooming in fashion for quite a while. Think summer-perfect sunflower dresses and you’d know it’s been around. This year’s seen a new crop of cheery sunflower prints from clothes to shoes as well as ornaments on jewelry.

Personally, I’ve always had a thing for real sunflowers. And not only that, I’m nuts over the crunchy nutty delicious sunflower seeds. Upon casual research, I found that artists throughout history had a fixation on sunflowers and those from the Impressionist time period were particularly obsessed with this sun-enchanted flowers.

Well, how could they not be? These flowers are just so vibrant, bold and cheery looking and not to mention pretty humongous in size and can grow up to 18 feet in height!

In fashion, sunflowers don’t just appear in one sunny color, they come in a wide selection of shades, from the minimalistic black and white to the more abstract or graphic colorful option. If you’re a sunflower-loving type of girl, you may find it thrilling to wear something that features your favorite flower.

“Flowers have an expression of countenance as much as men and animals. Some seem to smile; some have a sad expression; some are pensive and diffident; others again are plain, honest and upright, like the broad-faced sunflower and the hollyhock.”
Henry Ward Beecher
