Fashionista NOW: Autumn 2013 Trend Alert ~ Falling For Brocade All Over Again

Brocade’s made into one of Fall’s celebrated trends the previous year and it’s back on the runway again this year. Wonder how to sport brocade without looking too over the top?

Without further ado, let’s pick up some clues through the baroque-themed ensembles organized by lookbookers down below and slap a ‘wearable’ stamp on brocade looks once and for all.

brocade jeans – Shilla

Let the brocade stand out, keep the rest of your outfit muted. I know this is the most basic that any ‘fashion rule’ can get but sometimes, people forget! I love how very wearable Yan makes her bold brocade trousers by teaming it with solid black top and classic ankle strap shoes.

denim brocade

If the gold and black brocade look scares you, pick up a pair of pants in a light wash baroque style. Keep the mood of your outfit cheery by injecting bright pops of color. Miss Skinny Hipster keeps it chic casual on top with denim layered over a collared button-down in white. Pops of royal blue, teal and pink make the outfit summer-y in effect.

brocade biker jacket – Boohoo

If you’re prone to biker-style dressing, baroque-inspired wear can blend just right in. Lauren throws on a brocade biker jacket over a black wrap drape dress and studded booties to complete her look. Using brocade as accents is one of the easiest way you can make the trend wearable.

brocade scarf

Accent your neutral dark look with a scarf that carries bold baroque prints and voila you’re ready for fall! Stain your lips a deep berry shade. Wear shoes in any of the color you spot on your scarf to tie the whole look together.

brocade top – Marni

Know that you can make brocade casual by mixing it up with a completely laid-back piece, such as a pair of denim cutoff shorts. The contrasting mood of the extravagant blouse and the more low-key shorts just give this look a much more wearable spin that is visually captivating.

brocade skirt – Vera & Lucy

Here’s an edgy way to wear your baroque printed piece while keeping the whole look toned down. Think of brocade as a strong statement pattern that can stand on its own. Introduce different texture if you must but keep it in solid colors. The jacket that Tamara’s wearing has a studded shoulder interest that goes well with this black and gold look.
