Fashionista NOW: 6 Ways To Get Cozy & Stylish In Knitwear Fashion Inspiration

Temps are dropping and you’re happy to step out bundled up in a thick blanket but since that is not realistic at all, we kindly remind you to opt for knit. Wonder how introduce knitwear into your wardrobe for a cozy yet chic fashion statement? Read on.

Knit is one of the biggest trends to have been featured on the runways for the Fall 2014 at the New York Fashion Week. Calvin Klein showed off dressy knits on tops, Rodarte on dresses, Mark Jacobs (and Edun) on sweaters and leggings while Michael Kors went for an all-in-one lush interpretation.

Knitted pieces trigger a strong sense memory that we quickly attach them to the adjective — cozy. As we move into the cooler monsoonic season here in the equator, it’s practical to wear something that insulates against the windy chill and at the same time feels heavenly soft to the touch.

If you have ever felt like it’s hard to leave the comfortable warmth of a blanket when it’s bone-breaking cold outside, why not extend that comfy feeling with the use of a textured knit top or a long knit cardigan in your wardrobe?

For a few fashion tips on wearing knitwear to encapsulate that cozy look without looking like you’re headed to bed, look below for a visual tour from the fashion imagery below:

chain knit pullover – Attitude

An all-black outfit is given textural and metallic updates through the presence of the knit pullover, statement necklace and pants with knee stud embellishments. Now you know that you can cast off vibes of edginess while clad in knit too.

knit cardigan – Zara

A long comfy cardigan is a cold-day’s dear fried. Grace chooses to layer it over her black and white printed dress. Combat boots and sunnies are simple accessories to finish her out-for-the-day number. A slouchy knit outerwear in a neutral hue like this is a perfect piece to invest as you can layer it over almost anything.

black knit top – Chuu

Roll out of bed feeling like the incredible hulk? Bother not about fancy outfit coordination because you can take a cue from the lovely Sungkyung.

She partners a slouchy black knit sweater with a pair of dark denim blue skinny jeans for a classic combo that will take seconds to do. Accessorize with a statement-making snapback that says swag, a sleek and structured hand-carry bag and a pair of brown booties. Off you go!

knit sweater – Market! Market!

Knits come in various designs, colors and textures. If you like the almost-unraveling chunky kind, choose a knit sweater style similar to the one Gela Muñoz is wearing. She pairs it simply with denim shorts and then ups the cozy vibe with a pair of furry floral sneakers.

While it’s not recommended here in humid Malaysia (even though it rains like crazy), you can pull off a knit on knit look making sure the fabric used is light and breathable. Jullianne pairs a long-sleeved striped knit top with a distressed knit pencil skirt.

A pair of strappy booties completes her dressy knit outfit interpretation.

purple knit top – H&M

Neutral hues aside, a pop of color on a knit top adds an easy interest into your cool day wardrobe. LiTing pairs a knit top that has a mix indigo-violet hues with a soft blue denim and a flesh-toned heel. A bright knit piece to warm up in and lighten the mood of a gloomy weather.
